Learning through experience is one of the important approaches in Vinschool's curricula. Vinschool students are encouraged to participate in practical experience activities, including an experience program for 9th-grade students organized periodically to provide them with early career exposure while still in school. On May 11, 2023, such a program took place under the name “Experience a Day as an Engineer” for 9th-grade students of Vinschool Thang Long Secondary School.
Throughout the experience session, students got to learn about the working environment, industry development trends, as well as have the opportunity to interact directly and learn from "predecessors" at leading businesses in fields such as Business Administration – Automotive Service Management – Finance – Science and Technology. This is also an effective career guidance method for them from an early age.
The school board in general and the teachers at Vinschool in particular desire for students to visit the actual location to hear, see, and experience real-world work. They can observe, ask questions, and receive accurate, vivid, and specific answers. With the motto “Every lesson is an experience of a colorful life,” teachers and the school consistently monitor and propose the best educational methods to help students develop comprehensively, ensuring they not only learn knowledge from books but also practice and participate in real work experience sessions.
Along with the development of other industries, the automotive industry always plays a crucial role in the global industry. Vietnam is no exception to this development trend. Due to the increasing use of automobiles, related services are becoming increasingly necessary. However, the number of skilled engineers has not yet met society's needs. Therefore, training automotive engineers is essential in the current period. Hence, practical exposure is extremely important. Understanding this, Vinschool facilitated a practical experience session “a day as an engineer” for 9th-grade students, helping them engage with the current external work environment. The CarOn Automotive Service Center is a genuinely excellent place for them to develop and gain more hands-on experience.
At the CarOn Automotive Service Center, the students experienced a day as an engineer. They are all around 16 years old, which, psychophysiologically, is a "ripe" time when their personality, thinking, individual mindset, passions, and self-understanding are beginning to solidify. Conducting practical work experience sessions like this early on will help them shape their capabilities based on their inherent foundation, narrow down their career scope, and consequently define their future career goals. It also helps them clearly understand the stages, steps, and operational mechanisms of each service profession. Throughout the practical experience session at the CarOn Automotive Service Center, the students were introduced to the basic parts and features of automobiles.
In parallel, they were also introduced to the operating model of the CarOn Automotive Service Center. Furthermore, the students got to experience and directly practice the car care procedures at CarOn.
At the end of the experience session, teacher representatives from the School, on behalf of the School Board, extended their most sincere and profound thanks to the CarOn Automotive Service Center. They also presented small gifts to the center to express the appreciation and gratitude of the students, parents, and the school.
The "Experience a Day as an Engineer" tour for Vinschool students was an excellent opportunity for them to witness production lines firsthand, access corporate operational processes, and bridge the gap between textbook theory and practical application. The trip was interesting and useful for young people with a passion for mechanical engineering, automobiles, as well as economic professions, thereby providing career orientation and helping them build a bright future in this field.
